"How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace..." Isiah 52:7a
Today I sat for more than two hours with two women with whom I was friends in high school. We each went about busy, successful lives. Our experiences of life since high school have been as varied as they were from the beginning of our lives before we knew or noticed our differences.
Different as we are, we still share a common heritage. And we have each, I think, come into the fullness of our selfhood. We are examples of Maslow's self actualizing individuals. It felt to me that we have each found our places of inner peace. It is such good news, to me, that from the braided streams that have been our lives, our shared heritage and our separate wanderings, we can come together again and know our deep commonality, our humanity, our spirituality.
Best of all, for the fun of having lunch together, I like these women. I just plain like them.
How beautiful the work of the one who made the effort to bring us together.
Thank you, friends.
